| This safari is ideal for those willing
to experience and get to know about our vast, desolate,
wild and beautiful Patagonia. We will spend long hours in
our van driving along the gravel, arid Patagonian roads.
As well, it serves as a more relaxed way to get from Bariloche
to Calafate or vice versa instead of taking the long traditional
bus rides.Más

> Tour Information
. Departure
Your tour departs from the youth hostel described in the
itinerary. You will need to get to the Hostel on your own.
The tour will begin with an orientation meeting the night
before at the hostel. It is recommended that you book both
the night before and the night after the tour. You should
come to the meeting with your bags packed, ready to depart.
Your tour leader will collect the money for the food kitty
as well as your vouchers at that time.
. Tour leaders
All tour leaders know the area extremely well and are fully-trained
and licensed drivers. Tour leaders are there to assist you
with anything you need. To ensure that you gain the most
from your trip, all tours are conducted in Spanish, but
all our trek liders speak English.
. Accommodation
Accommodation varies greatly. You will spend a few nights
in Youth Hostels (only if it is schedule in itinerary),
comfortable dormitory style accommodation and the remaining
nights will be spent in the National Parks, where facilities
may be limited, or even non-existent. No camping experience
is needed. In some cases will spend a night in a "Estancias".
We use clean, well-situated campsites and most of them have
showers and flush toilets. For your comfort we recommend
that you bring both a sleeping mat and a winter sleeping
bag rated to -15 degrees (C) due to the low temperature
we have at night. First night and last night are not included
in the safari.
. Transportation
You will be transported in comfortable vans, carrying a
maximum of 15 passengers plus the tour leader. Vehicles
are equipped with stereo systems and, due to the temperate
climate, there is no air-conditioning required. Your luggage
will be carried on the roofrack. A first aid kit is carried
at all times for your safety. We request that you 'travel
light'. To help you do this, the hostel will offers a storage
room for luggage. Typical passengers are between 20 and
35 years old. Minimum age is 18 years old. This creates
a young, go-for-it attitude that we expect all passengers
to share. Older passengers who are wish to join us on that
basis are welcome.
Insurance
You must be insured for personal health care. We also strongly
recommend that you insure your baggage.
. Food
Except the Route 40 & Whales Road (where everybody is
responsable of his own food), on our tours you will enjoy
three meals a day. We operate a food kitty system. Breakfast,
lunch and dinner will covered by food kitty, and all passengers
will be expected to share in the cooking, cleaning, and
shopping. There will be occasional group meals in local
restaurants and the cost of these will not be included in
the food kitty.
. Trekking
Most of the walking is on fairly well defined tracks. There
are occasional river crossings steeping from stone to stone,
or across logs. There are no technical climbing skills required.
Most groups like to spread out over the trail, stopping
for photographs, resting, bird watching or just ambling
and taking time out to absorb the lovely surroundings. The
only thing we ask you to remember is not to get too far
ahead of, or behind, the main party and to keep your guide
within view. The evenings are often one of the most enjoyable
parts of the day. After a relaxing dinner, people like to
sit around, talking, playing cards, reading or just relaxing.
. Conservation
It has always been our motto that "we take only photographs,
leave only footprints, and kill only time" therefore
we are committed to the conservation of the areas we visit.
We try to limit our effect on them. We ask that all trekkers
thoughtfully dispose of batteries, wrappers and toilet paper
by burying or burning or placing them in the proper receptacles.
It is also a good idea to carry a small plastic bag during
the trekking day and put any refuse, candy wrappers, tissues
etc. in the bag. Usually in Summer during the day we have
up to 30 C and at night it drops to 10 C.
. What to bring?
This is what we suggest to bring:
- Three t-shirt / A sweater / Hiking shoes and sandals /
A pair of jeans and a water proof trousers
- Three pair of socks and underwear / Swimming suit / Sun
glasses / A water proof jacket / towel
- Drinking water bottle/Sleeping bag (if you do not have
one, you can rent it with us) / Sleeping pad / Sun block
/Cassette tapes
